picnic

I’m laying in the grass on a picnic blanket. To my left a woman is lying beside me, but she’s looking past me. Over her shoulder I see another woman, and another still behind her, continuing off into the sunny edge of a hill with a pine tree on top.

The woman beside me is my ex girlfriend, Vanessa. I can’t tell who is behind her, or behind her, but they are there.

In the picnic basket are grapes and cheese and Japanese crackers shaped like chilis.

I would look behind me at the women who have already been, but most of them are resting on another blanket, with someone else, blocking the view of what comes next, as we all do.
