fallen trees

It was a clear day and then the evening turned orange. The lights from the city mixed with clouds and I could tell something was coming. I met a girl and we walked in the rain and I went home early. Things were calm. I was sad. I bought an ice cream and two lottery tickets at a gas station. I arrived home and my dad was watching television in the dark.

Outside, the clouds gathered but the full moon seemed to pierce them all, a perfect circle surrounded by smoke.

I laid down in bed and the wind began to overwhelm the trees.

I slept surrounded by sounds and woke up in the dark morning light. No electricity.
